Israel’s “Dahiya Doctrineâ of Death – Imad Salamey pt 1/2
Dr. Imad Salamey is an Associate Professor of Political Science and International Affairs at the Lebanese American University in Beirut, and author of The Communitarian Nation-State Paradox in Lebanon. Part 1 describes the nature of the cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israel, including a strike on Hamas’ deputy leader al-Arouri. He also addresses Israel’s “Dahiya doctrine,” a military strategy of targeting civilian infrastructure with the aim of forcing civilians to jettison their political leadership or kick out combatant groups residing in the area. It was first deployed by Israel during its 1982 invasion of Lebanon to evict the PLO and is now being unleashed in Gaza under the pretext of rooting out Hamas.

Venture Capital Fuels U.S. Military Support for Israel, Egypt, and Saudis – Shana Marshall
Dr. Shana Marshall is the Associate Director of the Institute for Middle East Studies at George Washington University in D.C. She highlights a crucial element of financing the military and defense technology sector by venture capitalist and private equity firms with dubious financial and political interests. She explains how the business models of these firms shape the sort of weaponry produced in the U.S., such as an increase in drones and AI-powered systems and the “attritable” form of warfare that is waged as a result. Furthermore, she argues that U.S. policy in the Middle East and American support for authoritarian regimes has had dire consequences for the people in the region.

Strategically and Morally Bankrupt: U.S. Policy in the Middle East – Col. Lawrence Wilkerson

He points to state-sanctioned torture and other unlawful acts committed by the U.S. after 9/11 and asserts that the Israeli government is responding to Hamas’ attacks in a similar fashion by wholly disregarding international legal norms. Middle East analyst Assal Rad underscores the U.S. government’s complicity in Israeli war crimes in Gaza by arming Israel despite numerous ICJ rulings calling for Netanyahu’s government to adhere to its commitments under the Genocide Convention, and most recently, to immediately halt its operation in Rafah. She also discusses the potential implications of the recent deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.Â

The Afghan Papers (Washington Post Dec.,2019)showed what the Generals said in the Pentagon , which was different than what they said in Congress during the committee hearings about the Afghan War! This sounds like perjury! They were all taken care of by the defense contractors! Sounds like the Generals were partners in crime with the contractors! Not one General was fired for a poor performance , or indicted for perjury! The real questions after the ending of the Afghan War are Why did we fight the war? and who is responsible for this disaster?
These is very important information Abby Martin is sharing with the world, but she does herself a disservice by presenting it as an amateur rock music video. It comes across as the same kind of claptrap vomited up by Fox or MSNBC and the silly soundtrack is such a distraction that I find it difficult to focus on the actual content of her stories and I generally skip them for less sensationalist reporting. She can do better than this.
